This Lasagna is such a quick, simple, and tasty dinner! It’s perfect to double and freeze half for later. It turns out so flavorful and is filling for the family.
I like to pair it with a fresh salad and homemade einkorn sourdough bread.

You have family coming into town – a work party next week – you are having a baby soon and need to make a lot of freezer meals – or you just need to figure out dinner tonight.
I got you covered, friend!
This is so easy to make! People will think you spent longer than you did after they take their first bite and taste how flavorful and delicious it is!
Personally, I love making this at least monthly for my family.
I love taking this to a new mama after she has had a baby.
I love doubling this recipe and freezing for nights that I am too tired to cook.
Lastly, I love eating this – and I don’t like lasagna! Shh!
Let’s make it!
Tools Used
- Casserole dish – 9×13
- Frying pan – we love this set but they are an investment – they are non-toxic, non-stick, and dishwasher safe. They are a made with stainless steel and ceramic.
- Mixing Bowls – I have used these bowls for years and moved around the world with them – only one has broken, so I recommend them!
- Measuring spoons – these are my favorite because they fit inside all spice containers.
Lasagna Ingredients
- pasta sauce
- hamburger – browned on the stovetop
- eggs
- ricotta cheese
- parmesan cheese
- mozzarella cheese
- garlic powder – I use a lot because my family loves garlic! Sometime I use more than two tablespoons, but every time I have made this for family or friends, two tablespoons seem to be the perfect amount.
- onion powder
- basil
- oregano
- salt/pepper to taste
- lasagna noodles; uncooked (we use Jovial) – you do not need to precook these! Just follow my directions and they will turn out soft. You can skip the boiling and save yourself some dishes!
My embarrassing boiling mess – my parents were in town visiting and I had planned out all kinds of goodies to make them. Lasagna was up next and I had prepared this meal many times before but decided to boil the noodles thinking I could maybe make it better.
Well, I forgot to add oil to the water while they were boiling and they didn’t boil long enough so when it was time to assemble, they had all stuck to themselves.
I was so distraught and my dear mother offered to help as I was frantically trying to pull apart the clump of lasagna noodles.
It was a mess and so was I.
Setting that aside, I grabbed a new box and layered them in uncooked. It worked out beautifully by just making sure there was enough pasta sauce on the bottom and top layer.
This allowed the noodles the moisture they needed to soften up while cooking. Covering the dish retained the moisture as well and helped that top layer to not be crunchy.
So, save yourself the time and extra dirty dish by layering in the pasta uncooked with extra sauce and covering the dish while it cooks!
How to Make Lasagna
- Start by preheating your oven to 350℉.
- Next, you will pour a small amount of pasta sauce on the bottom of your casserole dish. Do enough to just cover the bottom with a light layer.
- Then you can begin cooking by browning your hamburger in a frying pan.
- Once browned, add the majority of the pasta sauce to the frying pan. Turn off your heat and combine together. Set aside the remaining pasta sauce because we are saving that small amount to cover the last layer of noodles when assembling the lasagna.
- In a small bowl, mix together the eggs, ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, half of the mozzarella cheese, garlic, onion, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper to taste.
- Now let’s assemble the ingredients. Starting with the lasagna noodles, layer the bottom of your prepared casserole dish.
- Over the first layer of noodles, use half of your hamburger mix and spread evenly.
- Cover this with another layer of noodles.
- Next, add your ricotta cheese mixture. Spread evenly over the noodles.
- Layer another noodle layer over top.
- Cover this with the remaining hamburger mixture.
- If you have any remaining noodles, place them over the hamburger.
- Now take the remaining pasta sauce and cover the top layer of noodles.
- Spread the last mozzarella cheese over top of this.
- Cover the casserole dish with parchment paper and bake for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the cover and bake for another 5-10 minutes.
- Allow this to cool before serving and enjoy!
- Sides I recommend are a simple salad and sourdough bread with butter and a little garlic powder sprinkled on top!

Tips for freezing lasagna
Are you wanting to make this for a future date or event? When I do this, l usually double this recipe for dinner the night I am preparing it and freeze the other half for the future date.
It can be in the freezer for four to six months, depending on if you have a deep freezer or are using your refrigerator freezer.
When I am ready to cook the frozen lasagna I follow these steps.
- Recommended: Unthaw overnight in the refrigerator and bake at dinner time at 350℉ for 30-45 minutes covered, then uncovered for an extra 5-10 minutes.
- If baking from frozen – bake at 350℉ for two hours covered and an extra 5-10 minutes uncovered at the end.
