Lasagna on a plate

Lasagna

Ashley
This delicious lasagna is so easy to make. It will surely impress your family and friends! It's perfect to double and freeze half for later. It turns out so flavorful and is filling for the family. I like to pair it with a fresh salad and homemade einkorn sourdough bread.

Equipment

  • 9x13 casserole dish

Ingredients

  • 32 oz pasta sauce
  • 1.5 - 2 lb hamburger cooked
  • 2 eggs
  • 15 oz ricotta cheese
  • ½ cup parmesan cheese shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded
  • 2 Tbsp garlic powder
  • 2 Tbsp onion powder
  • 1 Tbsp basil
  • 1 Tbsp oregano
  • salt/pepper to taste
  • 13 oz lasagna noodles (we use Jovial)
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese shredded

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350℉.
  • Using your pasta sauce, pour a small amount on the bottom of your casserole dish.
  • Brown your 1.5 - 2 lb hamburger in a frying pan.
  • Once browned, add the majority of the 32 oz pasta sauce to the frying pan, turn off your heat and combine. We will save a small amount to cover the last layer of noodles when assembling the lasagna.
  • In a small bowl, mix together 2 eggs, 15 oz ricotta cheese, ½ cup parmesan cheese, 1 cup mozzarella cheese, 2 Tbsp garlic, 2 Tbsp onion, 1 Tbsp basil, 1 Tbsp oregano, and salt/pepper to taste.
  • Next we will assemble the ingredients. Starting with the 13 oz lasagna noodles, layer the bottom of your casserole dish that has the bottomed covered with pasta sauce.
  • Over the first layer of noodles, use half of your hamburger mix and spread evenly.
  • Cover this with another layer of noodles.
  • Next, add your ricotta cheese mixture. Spread evenly over the noodles.
  • Layer another noodle layer over top.
  • Cover this with the remaining hamburger mixture.
  • If you have any remaining noodles, place them over the hamburger.
  • Now take the remaining pasta sauce and cover the top layer of noodles. Then spread the last 1 cup mozzarella cheese over top of this.
  • Cover the casserole dish with parchment paper and bake for 30 minutes.
  • After 30 minutes, remove the cover and bake for another 5-10 minutes.
  • Allow this to cool before serving and enjoy! Serve with sourdough bread and a simple salad to make it a more complete meal!

Notes

1. If your pasta sauce doesn't have any seasonings already in it or you are making your sauce from scratch, I recommend seasoning your meat with salt and pepper.
This recipe is so nice to double and save for a later date in the freezer!
2. This is prefect to prepare ahead of time when guests are coming into town. I'll freeze it and then unthaw the night before I plan to use it.
3. I love making this for times that I am postpartum, preparing in advance and freezing ensures the family and I have a good meal while I can recover!
4. Lastly, if you don't use parchment paper, you can use foil to cover while it cooks. I just recommend avoiding foil if you can for health reasons.
